I've purchased SeeNoEvil and have more than one computer. How do I get it installed on the other computers?
You can save the installation file that you used on your first computer onto a disk and run it from your other computers,
or you can go to http://apps.seenoevilonline.com/admin/app/login
on your other computers and download the software from your online account page.
During registration of SeeNoEvil, I'm asked for activation name. What is my activation name?
The activation name is a free-text field used for you to remember where the software was installed. This name should be
something unique for each computer that SeeNoEvil is installed in, as it will be viewable on your online account page.
i.e. - Kids Desktop, Dads Laptop, etc.
I've installed SeeNoEvil, but now my web browser will not display any websites.
If you have a firewall, you will need to configure the settings to work with SeeNoEvil. There are numerous firewall
applications available. We've compiled instructions for the primary firewall solutions available. If yours is not
listed below, please call our tech support for assistance.
How do I disable Vic the monkey from blocking images during my browsing session?
To temporarily suspend the blocking of images:
- Right-click on the Vic system tray icon on the bottom right of the screen
- Click on Pause Web Blocking
- If the current user is not a parent account, SeeNoEvil will request a parent to login for authorization
- All images will remain unblocked for the remainder of the session, or until Resume Web Blocking is selected from the system tray menu
To permanently turn off image blocking, you must change the security level of the user account. To change the users' security level:
- Login as a parental user
- Open SeeNoEvil by right-clicking the system tray Vic icon on the bottom right of the screen
- Double-click on the users name you wish to change
- In the new 'Edit Users' window, click the Parental Controls icon on the left
- Use the slider bar to adjust the security level as desired.
Why are all images being blocked when I'm logged in on my parental account?
You likely have your security setting set too high. To change the security level:
- Open SeeNoEvil by right-clicking the system tray Vic icon on the bottom right of the screen
- Double-click on the users name you wish to change
- In the new 'Edit Users' window, click the Parental Controls icon on the left
- Use the slider bar to adjust the security level as desired.
Why are images not being blocked at all?
- You might have 'Pause Web Blocking' enabled. To re-enable web blocking:
- Right-click on the Vic system tray icon on the bottom right of the screen
- Click on Resume Web Blocking
- The security level for the current user might be set too low. To change the security level:
- Login as a parental user
- Open SeeNoEvil by right-clicking the system tray Vic icon on the bottom right of the screen
- Double-click on the users name you wish to change
- In the new 'Edit Users' window, click the Parental Controls icon on the left
- Use the slider bar to adjust the security level as desired.
- The image might be too small. An image must be at least 25 pixels wide or high to be blocked.
How do I get normal right-click functionality when running SeeNoEvil?
- Click Images on the SeeNoEvil toolbar
- Click on Disable Image Menus
Disabling Image Menus will disable the ability to partially unblock images. Instead, it will give the
normal browser right-click menu functionality. If you need to unblock an image, you can then re-enable
Image Menus by going back Images on the SeeNoEvil toolbar.
Why can I not click on 'Allow or Block Site' from the SeeNoEvil toolbar?
This menu is disabled if you are in child mode. To enable this menu, you must enter Parent Mode. To do this:
- Click Mode on the SeeNoEvil toolbar
- Click on Parent Mode
- Login by selecting your username and entering your password
- All SeeNoEvil toolbar menus are now enabled
- Remember to go back to child mode if your child is using the computer
I added a site to my whitelist and SeeNoEvil is still blocking images.
The website you added might be pulling images from another server. When adding a site to your whitelist,
a window will appear showing everywhere that site is pulling resources from. By checking one of the boxes,
SeeNoEvil will highlight which images are coming from that server. BEWARE of whitelisting servers
that might be hosting advertisements, as some ads can be pornographic...even if they aren't porn ads
where you are now!
What is a Whitelist? What is a Blacklist?
A whitelist and blacklist are terms used for lists of allowed and disallowed websites. A whitelisted site
will always load with images unblocked. A blacklisted site will be blocked completely by SeeNoEvil.
SeeNoEvil maintains a global whitelist of known safe sites, and a blacklist of known porn sites. In addition,
you can customize a whitelist and blacklist for each computer user in your family by using the 'Allow or Block Site' menu
in the SeeNoEvil toolbar, or by going to your online account at
http://apps.seenoevilonline.com/admin/app/login.
Why are users getting more or less time than I have set for them?
If your users are setup for weekly time restrictions, any changes made to time limits will not take effect
until the following Sunday at 12:01AM. Maximum time allowed will take precedence over any extra minutes you give
a user. If you setup a user to get extra time on the weekends, but also have a maximum time set, then the extra
minutes will only add up to the maximum time. Make sure that the 'Extra minutes on: Weekends/Weekdays' or the
'Carry over unused time' features are not enabled, or are enabled with the desired time.
What is the difference between the SeeNoEvil member name and the parental username?
The SeeNoEvil member name and password are what was chosen when you purchased SeeNoEvil. This login
is used for access to your online account information and management at
http://apps.seenoevilonline.com/admin/app/login.
The parental username and password is created during installation and setup of SeeNoEvil. This login is
used only at your computer(s) for access to SeeNoEvil and toolbar functionality.
I've locked myself out of SeeNoEvil and Windows.
If you created a Backup Administrator account during installation, you can use this username to login.
If not, please contact our tech support for assistance.
There's a grey box in the corner when logged in as a child user. I can't close it because it moves
when my mouse goes over it. How do I get rid of it?
If you want to click one of the buttons in the box, simply hold down the SHIFT key and click one of the buttons.
Otherwise, you can disable this box completely by:
- Login to your parent account
- Right-click on the Vic system tray icon on the bottom right of the screen
- Click the Options icon from the left side
- Click the Time Remaining Window tab on the top
- Uncheck Enable Time-Remaining Window
How do I setup SeeNoEvil for accountability for my, or someone elses, addiction?
SeeNoEvil is working on a full scale accountability piece right now. However, many of our Users
have used SeeNoEvil to fight addiction. Here is how they have set up the current software to do this…
- Set the accountability partner as the parental user. If this is not the case and you need to change the password of the parental user, open the SeeNoEvil control panel, double click on the parental username, and click on Change Password.
- Next make sure the person struggling with the addiction is set up as a child user at a medium or high security setting.
- At a high security setting the User will only have access to websites on the "allow" list as determined by the parental user. Consider choosing the "safe" websites the user visits frequently.
- At the medium security level the User will have access to all websites, but all images will be blocked. (SeeNoEvil automatically blocks all known pornography websites. However, if there is a new pornography site that is not yet located, SeeNoEvil will block all those images and any images that may be promoting or advertising adult content).
- You can also choose to have screen shots and keyword logging set up so the accountability partner can view what the user has done during their sessions.
