Does SeeNoEvil do more then just block pornography?
Yes, it also blocks objectionable words and offers numerous parental control features. You can limit how much and what times of day your children are allowed to use the computer. You have the option to monitor web sites, applications, and chat rooms. You can also record every key stroke your child makes and take screen shots of the session.

How can SeeNoEvil really block all pornographic material?
SeeNoEvil offers four security levels, and the material that is blocked depends on the security level you choose for the user.

SeeNoEvil's four security levels:

  • None: No blocking of any image. This is an option for parent users who want to explore the web freely without any websites or images being blocked.
  • Low: All webpages on the SeeNoEvil global "block" list will be blocked. The global block list is a list of all known pornographic websites. SeeNoEvil will not block sites/images that aren't on the global block list.
  • Medium: All webpages on the SeeNoEvil global "block" list will be blocked. Additionally, SeeNoEvil will block all unknown images, (not already on the SeeNoEvil "block" list) unless the image or the URL has been put on an "allow" list created by the parental users.
  • High: At the high security level the users will ONLY have access to websites put on the "allow" list as determined by the parental user.

What will I see instead of the images?
All images will be blocked by Vic, the monkey.

What if I don’t know if the image is good or bad before I unblock it?
SeeNoEvil offers an unblocking tool bar. With this, you can peek at an individual image, or an entire page through a type of static noise filter. In fact, you can gradually choose – by percentage – how much you want the image, background, or page unblocked.

Will all images on my computer be blocked?
As long as SeeNoEvil is running, and the websites are not allowed (as determined by parental user), then all images will be blocked by Vic, the monkey. You may notice that some sites you visit are not blocked. This is the result of a global "whitelist" that SNE maintains of known, safe sites (amazon.com, bestbuy.com).

What about pop-ups?
SeeNoEvil blocks images on pop-ups and flash movies as well.

What if I want to browse the Internet without having to unblock all images?
Simply enter parental mode with the username and password you choose during installation of SeeNoEvil to unblock your session and SeeNoEvil will no longer be enabled during that web browsing session.

What if I don’t have the time to browse the Internet with my child to determine if a website can be allowed? Your child will simply add the site he or she wants allowed to his or her favorites folder. You can then access the folder when you have time, and determine whether or not you want it allowed.

I’m also worried about conversations my teenagers are having in chat rooms. Can SeeNoEvil help me monitor that?
Yes, SeeNoEvil has a feature that records every keystroke your child makes. You can also take screen shots of your child's Internet session that will be recorded and pulled up when you request. You can monitor your child's Internet sessions without even being there.

Will SeeNoEvil slow down my computer?
Not in parental mode. In child mode you may notice a slight slow down in the browsing time by tenths of a second, but it will not be overly cumbersome in relation to the total protection offered for your child. We at SeeNoEvil, value your time and ours. It was important for us to develop software that worked at the speed that we do.

Couldn't my child just change the web browser and disable SeeNoEvil?
No, if your child changes the web browser SeeNoEvil will still be activated under the controls determined by the parental user. We at SeeNoEvil had a few technologically advanced teenagers try to crack our system. They failed and it drove them crazy!

Can SeeNoEvil be used as an accountability piece?
SeeNoEvil is working on a full scale accountability piece right now. However, many of our Users have used SeeNoEvil to fight addiction. Here is how they have set up the current software to do this…

  1. Set the accountability partner as the parental user. If this is not the case and you need to change the password of the parental user, open the SeeNoEvil control panel, double click on the parental username, and click on Change Password.
  2. Next make sure the person struggling with the addiction is set up as a child user at a medium or high security setting.
    • At a high security setting the User will only have access to websites on the "allow" list as determined by the parental user. Consider choosing the "safe" websites the user visits frequently.
    • At the medium security level the User will have access to all websites, but all images will be blocked. (SeeNoEvil automatically blocks all known pornography websites. However, if there is a new pornography site that is not yet located, SeeNoEvil will block all those images and any images that may be promoting or advertising adult content).
  3. You can also choose to have screen shots and keyword logging set up so the accountability partner can view what the user has done during their sessions.
